The Lares Trek Peru Route is ideal for travelers who want to get off the beaten path but still visit the impressive ruins of Machupicchu. It is important to acclimatize to the altitude. The maximum elevation above sea level along the trail is 4,500 m, so we suggest that you spend at least 2 days in Cusco before attempting the trail. During this time you can explore the wonders of Cusco.
